Joe Biden Commends UAE’s Recent Free Trade Agreement Signed with India


US President Joe Biden praised the initiatives of the United Arab Emirates, including the Free Trade Agreements it signed with several countries.

During a bilateral meeting between UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and President Biden in Jeddah, the former welcomed the latter’s economic initiatives throughout the Middle East. The Free Trade initiative was also signed by Indonesia, India, and Israel, which included new investments in Egypt and Jordan.

UAE Strengthens Economic Cooperation In The Region

This year alone, the UAE has already signed three trade agreements – one each with Israel, India, and Indonesia.

President Biden praised UAE’s commitments to strengthen its policies while enforcing systems against financial crimes within and across the border. Both leaders pointed out the health, cultural, and enduring educational partnership between the two countries.

President Biden also invited the UAE President to visit the US later this year after congratulating him on his recent election as President. He also offered his condolences on the demise of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahyan.

Both leaders have discussed extensively several regional and global challenges and opportunities that need close coordination between the UAE and the US as strategic partners. The discussion was made during the Summit of the United States and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), with Jordan, Iraq, and Egypt also participating in the discussion.

Biden Praises UAE For Diplomatic Relations With Israel

While commenting on regional diplomacy, Biden commended Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed for his leadership in the bilateral relationship. He praised the UAE President for ensuring diplomatic relations with Israel and extending its cooperation with other countries in the region.

The discussions also included the role of the US in establishing new economic, people-to-people, and trade relations among the UAE, Israel, Morocco, and Bahrain. It also highlighted the US’s role in extending the ties among these states through frameworks of cooperation.

The two leaders also reiterated their commitment to ensure stronger defense systems and deepen extensive security cooperation. Both countries are working to strengthen their contribution to regional peace and stability.
